Argideen Croquet Competitions Singles and Doubles

Rules are as per “The World Croquet Federation Rules of Golf Croquet” which can be found on the WCF website and the Regulations for Tournaments on Croquet.Org.

Please play your singles and doubles matches in good time and if possible before the end of August.

Report your match scores in good time and with both parties agreeing the result reported. Scores can be posted on the croquet group WhatsApp or the full match result with names written on the bottom of the score sheet in the croquet hut.

If results are not posted by agreement and the issue cannot be resolved later the match may have to be replayed.

Handicaps will not be used in 2026 but results will be used to calculate handicaps from the Croquet Association of Ireland handicap system to introduce rankings and handicaps for later years.

Where players do not have a CAI handicap Regulations for Tournaments allow for club tournament organisers to assign handicaps.

Singles is a knockout format and should play all 13 hoops so we can use the scores for updating handicaps.

Any player eliminated in their first match in the singles may be entered in the Shield knockout competition.

Doubles should play all 13 hoops as the total number of hoops is used for final calculations.

For 2026 there are two doubles groups and the winners of Group A will play the second place of Group B and the winners of Group B will play the second place in Group A for places in a final.

If players have any questions about rules they should call for the opinion and witness of an experienced player as referee before a shot is taken. Either team can request a referee.
